Modern day stories wearing old clothes. Chavs and gangbangers dressed in furs and leather and carrying swords.
In Bramble’s world, council estates are stands of tree-houses that are fifteen stories high. Drugs are expensive and sex is, usually, free.
Violence and death are just a part of life.
What happens when urban sub-culture gets kicked back into an older, rustic world?
“As Bramble and ToePick reached the estate side of the common the sun slumped beneath the horizon and within a few minutes almost all that could be seen of The Wood were the angry black pen-scratches of bare trees scribbled furiously over and over against the purple-grey sky.
‘I wonder what The Waverley wants,’ ToePick mumbled.
‘Someone scared,’ said Bramble. ‘Someone hurt, someone reminded of how things are.’”
